Pentagon Pulling Most Troops from Border

Active-duty departures do not include National Guard personnel.

The Pentagon has confirmed that the recall of 1,100 active-duty troops from the U.S.-Mexico border, returning them to their home bases this week. The troops were deployed earlier this year when a surge of migrants was expected. Illegal border crossings have reportedly slowed, so the troops will officially end their mission on August 8. Four hundred troops will remain through August 31.

The 2,300 National Guard troops at the southern border will not be affected by the active-duty departures. Officials with the National Guard Bureau say they have plans to rotate new units in as replacements.

Meanwhile, the governors of Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Nebraska, have joined a growing number of states deploying National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For leaders in the Pentagon as they recall the active-duty troops from the U.S.-Mexico border.
  • For the National Guard personnel as they provide support to border security officers.
  • For the president and homeland security secretary to seek God’s wisdom regarding immigration and processing illegal migrants.
